Reader FewCents submitted this beautiful desktop to our Desktop Showcase. It’s easy on the eyes when nothing’s going on, and has plenty of room to work, with its widgets off to the sides. Here’s what you’ll need to set it up.
To submit your desktop to our Desktop Showcase the way FewCents did, just post it to your Kinja blog with the tag “desktop showcase” and we’ll see it. Now, here’s what you’ll need to recreate this one for yourself:
- The wallpaper from Wallbase
- The bAero Windows theme from DeviantArt
- The Rainmeter system tweaking and monitoring tool for Windows
- The Simple Nova skin for Rainmeter for the weather, clock, and stats
- The SDT RUS skin for Rainmeter for the app tab on the left
- The RocketDock application launcher for Windows
- The Kobhens Dock Theme for RocketDocl
- The Gill Sans Text Icons icon pack to replace the icons in RocketDock
- The iCon Pack for the Trash Can icon
Three tools, and a little customization for each, and that’s all it takes to put this sharp-looking desktop together. The app tab on the left springs out when necessary with a few commonly used applications in it, and the dock at the bottom can be configured to show or hide whenever you want. If you have trouble getting your setup to look just so, or want to know more about how FewCents modified the skins to work this way, just head on over to the Kinja link below to ask your questions or sing your praises.
Do you have a good-looking, functional desktop of your own to show off? Share it with us! Post it to your personal Kinja blog using the tag Desktop Showcase or add it to our Lifehacker Desktop Show and Tell Flickr pool. Screenshots must be at least at least 640×360 and please include information about what you used, links to your wallpaper, skins, and themes, and any other relevant details. If your awesome desktop catches our eye, you might get featured!
